Daniel Davison aka 'the Jazzbum.'
Daniel, born and raised in the Yakima Valley of Washington State was
Influenced by his fathers strong passion for jazz in the form of big bands like Kenton and Basie, and the 50's piano trio form perfected by Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and the inventive bands of Miles Davis. During high school, Gerry Burr, jazz choir director, was instrumental in helping Daniel hone the skills needed to participate intelligently in academic jazz. After a short stint at Central Washington University, under John Moawad, he moved through a strong fusion period in the Seventies, with pioneers 'Dal Neon'. (inset illustration-byStephen Baris) This was the Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock era highlighted by Weather Report and of course more Miles.
In the 80's it was metro-punk rockabilly band, 'Kinetics' with longtime collaborater, guitarist-composer Roger Rogers (they partnered a band in the seventies- 'Twin Howler Band'.
Kinetics recorded two products for legendary label 'Etiquette Records' (Sonics and Wailers label) but due to the nature of the game the band disbanded at the 80's outset.
In 1996, through serendipity, Daniel auditions and lands the primary piano player position(say that 3 times fast) at the reinvented Seattle iconic restaurant, El Gaucho. Playing standards and jazz with an eclectic blend of rock and originals, he has remained there to date.
